TAINO INDIGENOUS VIRTUAL GATHERING
My last 1-person show was in 2019 just before the pandemic changed the world. In 2020, I participated in a virtual exhibition with artists from all over the world. I didn’t really plan any shows for 2021. Then two surprise opportunities came up!
The Jornada Indígena Taina (Taino Indigenous Gathering) was held virtually on August 6, 7 & 8, 2021. I had created the poster and showed my artwork that is related to indigenous Taino symbolism and thought as a slide show presentation during the breaks between speakers.

KENNEDY CENTER HONORS CHIEF BILLY REDWING TAYAC
My other surprise art showing will be held on September 14, 2021 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. I previously wrote about the passing of Chief Billy Redwing Tayac. He will be honored at the opening of the 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Kennedy Center. I provided the artwork that will be shown during his honor song. It will also be shown on PBS on October 1. I’m sure it will just be a very small view of the painting, but it is still an honor to be able to show my work there!
